Hormone Support for Longevity, Balance, and Better Daily Function in Wake Forest & Raleigh
Hormones play a major role in how you feel, function, recover, sleep, think, and age. When hormone levels shift, the effects can show up in ways that are easy to dismiss at first. You may feel more tired than usual, notice changes in mood, struggle with sleep, experience weight changes, lose muscle tone, feel less motivated, or simply feel like your body is no longer responding the way it used to.
At Heritage Urgent & Primary Care, we offer bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, including hormone pellet therapy, for patients in Wake Forest and Raleigh who are looking for a medically guided approach to hormone balance, longevity, and whole-body wellness.
Our goal isn’t to simply chase youth or offer a quick fix. Instead, we focus on helping patients better understand what is happening in their bodies and whether hormone support may be the right option as part of a larger plan for long-term health.
Patient-Centered Regenerative Care
A Longevity-Focused Approach to Hormone Health
Longevity care is about more than a person adding years to their life. It’s about helping patients preserve energy, strength, clarity, resilience, and independence as they age.
When hormone levels are out of balance, patients may find it harder to maintain muscle, manage weight, recover after exercise, sleep well, regulate mood, or feel mentally sharp. For some patients, hormone therapy may help support a stronger foundation for long-term wellness.
At Heritage Urgent & Primary Care, we view BHRT and pellet therapy as part of a complete care plan. Hormones do not replace the basics. Nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, metabolic health, preventative screenings, and chronic disease management all matter. Hormone therapy is a part of an overall plan for healthy living.

What Is BHRT?
BHRT stands for “bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.”
Bioidentical hormones are designed to be structurally similar to hormones naturally produced by the body. Depending on a patient’s needs, hormone therapy may involve estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, or other hormone-related support.
Hormone levels can change for a variety of reasons, which may include age, menopause, perimenopause, andropause, stress, medical conditions, lifestyle factors, or other health concerns. These changes may affect energy, mood, metabolism, sleep, libido, mental clarity, muscle strength, and a patient’s overall quality of life.
BHRT is used to help restore hormone levels when appropriate. At Heritage Urgent & Primary Care, treatment begins with a careful evaluation, not assumptions. We take time to review your symptoms, health history, medications, risk factors, and wellness goals. We may also recommend lab testing to help guide your care.
Signs You May Have a Hormone Imbalance
Hormonal changes can look different from person to person. Some patients notice a sudden shift, while others experience a slow change over several months, or even years.
Common concerns that may lead patients to ask about BHRT include:
- Fatigue or low energy
- Difficulty sleeping
- Mood changes or irritability
- Brain fog or trouble focusing
- Low libido
- Hot flashes or night sweats
- Weight gain or changes in body composition
- Loss of muscle tone
- Slower recovery after exercise
- Vaginal dryness or discomfort
- Reduced motivation
- A general feeling of being “off”
These symptoms can have many causes, including thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies, stress, sleep problems, medication side effects, depression, chronic illness, or other medical conditions. That’s why it’s important to work with a medical provider who can look beyond the symptoms and help determine what may actually be contributing to how you feel.

What Are Hormone Pellets?
Hormone pellets are a form of hormone therapy placed just beneath the skin, typically in the hip or upper buttock area. Once inserted, the pellet slowly releases hormones over time. This steady release is great for patients who prefer not to take a daily pill, apply a cream, or remember frequent dosing.
The placement process is performed in-office and is usually quick. After numbing the area, a small incision is made, the pellet is inserted, and the area is covered with a bandage. Most patients can return to normal (albeit light) activity shortly after the appointment, though your provider will give you specific aftercare instructions.
Pellets are not the right fit for everyone. Some patients may benefit more from other forms of hormone therapy. That is why a consultation and ongoing monitoring are important before deciding which option makes the most sense.

BHRT for Women
Women may experience hormone changes during perimenopause, menopause, or after certain medical procedures. These changes can affect sleep, temperature regulation, mood, sexual health, bone health, skin, metabolism, and day-to-day comfort.
BHRT may be considered for women who are experiencing symptoms related to hormone decline or imbalance. Depending on the patient, care may include support with estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, or a combination of therapies.
Because every woman’s health history is different, treatment should be personalized. Factors such as age, menopause status, personal and family medical history, cardiovascular risk, cancer history, and current medications all matter when deciding whether hormone therapy is the right choice for the patient.
BHRT for Men
Men can also experience hormone changes as they age. Testosterone levels may gradually decline over time, and some men notice changes in strength, energy, mood, libido, body composition, and motivation.
For men with symptoms of low testosterone, evaluation may include a review of symptoms, lab testing, lifestyle factors, sleep habits, weight, medications, and overall health. If hormone therapy is appropriate, treatment may be designed to help support energy, physical performance, sexual wellness, recovery, and long-term vitality.
As with women, hormone treatment for men should be medically supervised and monitored over time. The goal is not simply to raise a number on a lab report; it’s to support safe, balanced, and meaningful improvement in how the patient feels and how their body functions.
What to Expect During Your Consultation
Your visit begins with a conversation. We will ask about your symptoms, lifestyle, sleep, stress, medical history, medications, and health goals. We may also discuss nutrition, exercise, weight changes, mood, libido, and recovery.
We may recommend lab work to evaluate hormone levels and related health markers. This helps us create a clearer picture before discussing treatment options.
If BHRT or pellet therapy is appropriate, your provider will explain the recommended plan, how treatment works, what benefits may be expected, what risks or side effects should be considered, and how follow-up will be handled. Hormone therapy should not be a one-time decision with no monitoring. Your care plan may be adjusted over time based on symptoms, lab results, and how your body responds.
