Support Healthier, Smoother, More Resilient Skin

Your skin is constantly renewing itself. Over time, though, that natural renewal process can slow down. Sun exposure, aging, acne, stress, inflammation, lifestyle habits, and changes in collagen production can all affect how your skin looks and feels. Fine lines may become more noticeable, texture may become uneven, acne scars may linger, and pores may appear larger. Skin that once looked smooth and firm may begin to look dull, tired, or less resilient.

At Heritage Urgent & Primary Care, we offer microneedling in Wake Forest for patients who want to support healthier-looking skin through a treatment that works with the body’s natural repair process. Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin, encouraging the body to respond with new collagen and elastin production.

For patients interested in longevity and regenerative care, microneedling can be part of a broader plan to maintain skin quality, improve texture, and support a refreshed appearance over time.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that uses fine needles to create tiny channels in the surface of the skin. These micro-channels are small and controlled, but they signal the body to begin a natural healing response.

As the skin repairs itself, it may produce new collagen and elastin. These proteins are important for firmness, elasticity, smoothness, and overall skin structure. Collagen naturally declines with age, which is one reason the skin can begin to look thinner, looser, or more textured over time.

Microneedling does not add artificial volume or freeze muscle movement. Instead, it works by encouraging the skin to remodel and repair itself. This makes it an excellent option for patients who want a gradual, natural-looking improvement in their skin quality.

Microneedling and Regenerative Skin Care

Regenerative care focuses on supporting the body’s ability to repair, restore, and maintain healthier function. In skin care, that means looking beyond surface-level treatments and supporting the deeper processes that influence tone, texture, firmness, and healing.

Microneedling fits well into this approach because it stimulates the skin’s natural repair response. The treatment is not about covering up the skin; it’s about encouraging renewal from within.

For patients focused on longevity, this can be particularly valuable. The goal is not to look dramatically different; the goal is to help your skin age in a healthier and more supported way. With the right treatment plan, microneedling may help improve the appearance of early aging, sun damage, scarring, and uneven texture while helping the skin look brighter, smoother, and more refreshed.

What Can Microneedling Help Improve?

Microneedling may be recommended for a variety of skin concerns.

Patients may ask about microneedling for:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Large pores
  • Mild skin laxity
  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • Uneven tone
  • Stretch marks
  • Surgical or injury-related scars
  • Overall skin rejuvenation

Microneedling results are gradual. Because the treatment depends on the body’s repair process, improvements develop over time and don’t appear overnight. Many patients notice their skin looks fresher within the first few weeks, with continued improvement as collagen remodeling takes place.

Patient-Centered Regenerative Care

A Natural Approach to Skin Aging

There are multiple contributors to aging skin. Collagen loss, sun exposure, inflammation, dehydration, hormonal changes, nutrition, sleep, and stress can all affect how the skin changes over time.

Microneedling addresses one important part of that picture by encouraging collagen production and skin remodeling. It may help soften visible signs of aging while preserving a natural appearance. Your face still looks like your face. The goal is simply to support smoother, healthier-looking skin.

Skin health is connected to whole-body health. Hydration, nutrition, hormone balance, metabolic health, sleep, and preventative care can all influence how your skin looks and how well it responds to treatment.

What to Expect During Your Consultation

Your microneedling visit will begin with a consultation. We’ll ask about your skin concerns, treatment goals, health history, medications, allergies, and any previous aesthetic treatments. We may also discuss acne history, scarring, sun exposure, skincare products, and your typical healing response.

This conversation helps us to determine whether microneedling is right for you and what kind of results may be realistic. Some patients are good candidates for microneedling alone. Others may benefit from combining microneedling with other wellness or skin-supportive treatments. If microneedling is a good option, we will explain what to expect before, during, and after treatment. We’ll also review aftercare instructions so you know how to protect your skin while it heals.

What Happens During Microneedling?

Before treatment, the skin is cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to help ensure your comfort. Once the skin is prepared, the microneedling device is passed over the treatment area to create controlled micro-channels.

During the treatment, you may feel pressure, vibration, or a scratching sensation (depending on the area being treated and your personal sensitivity).

After treatment, the skin may look red or feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. Some patients also experience tightness, tenderness, dryness, or light flaking as the skin begins to recover. These effects are usually temporary and improve as healing progresses.

Is Microneedling Right for You?

Microneedling may be a good option if you want to improve skin texture, soften fine lines, reduce the appearance of scars, or support healthier-looking skin without surgery. It may also be a good fit for patients who prefer natural-looking improvement over dramatic changes.

However, microneedling is not right for everyone. Patients with active skin infections, certain inflammatory skin conditions, poor wound healing, uncontrolled acne, certain medical concerns, or specific medication use may need to delay treatment or consider another option. Your provider will review your health history and help determine whether microneedling is safe and appropriate.
